May not be relevant to many here.... But it's a good read!

is the fact that the link you posted doesn't work, also part of the joke?
(totally possible - I'm gullible)

Link worked for me.

I would only add one more comment. A SIMPLE bar-chart type of display also makes them happy.

Indeed! The article was a blast to read :D Thank you!

Boiling down complex data to a simple dashboard is what i do all the time, and it is so much fun!
Having simple visualization such as traffic lights, bars, charts, or even just highlighting numbers with little up/down arrows and color helps non-technical people and management so much in their daily tasks. (y)
I do disagree though with his technical implementation! :) 400 lines of subqueries is just unhealthy and a lot of his problems he talked about could be simplyfied.

This time it worked for me.

It's an interesting article, but I agree with Saphirah: Anyone who actually deployed a t-sql query that read: WHEN VALUE >= '2'
...needs to be re-trained at best, rather than critiquing the culture (stupid as it may be), that obsesses over dashboards.

The author of that article strikes me as a beginner in SQL who has become horrified at his own code projects: And with good reason, and then has written an article fessing up to it in a somewhat deflective way. Hopefully he fixes that cr@p!
