Hello forum,

someone asked me this question and I can't give an answer when I'm not positive.

In a combobox, as you start to type, the rest of the word of the first instance starts to fill the field. My friend was wondering if it would be possible for the drop down to occur right after the first few letters have been typed in - that way the user could then use the up and down arrow keys to select the exact record and hit return.

Is this at all possible? (please note that using a listbox is not an option).

Thanks,

-Sean

Set the combo's Allow AutoCorrect property to Yes.

Thanks for answering Casey!

What I should have been clearer about was that the auto-correct part is working just fine. You start to type and the rest of the word does get filled in!

Presently, once the auto correct has found its first instance, the user then clicks the little down arrow to display the list and then selects the appropriate one (the first few letters he/she types in is more to get it in the right area). What my boss would like is to make it so that the user did not have to physically click on the down arrow to display the list - rather if it could happen automatically.

Does anyone know if this is possible? (I've done this in a listbox by filtering down the list as the user types - so I am aware of that possibility. We need it to remain a combo box though!)

Thanks in advance,

-Sean

You can put this code in the On Enter [Event Procedure] of the combo box, the combo box will open and you can start typing...

Me.ComboBoxName.Dropdown
