Hi All,

I have been playing around with creating Switchboards in several practice databases. I'm using the same MS Access 2003 to create these Switchboard forms but I cannot figure out why my command buttons come out in different styles. I prefer the first style as opposed to the second style. How can I get the second style button to look like the first style?

The only difference is that the database switchboard in the second image was converted from an Access 2000 database to Access 2003, could this be the problem? I'm only interested in the button styles not the text.

This one I like:

I would like the buttons here to look like the ones above.

Thanks for any info

If you're using Win XP, go to desktop display properties and ensure that the theme is set to Windows XP.
Any change in theme ( desktop) has an effect on how display objects in Access will look like.

Thanks Rak,

Sorry for the delay in responding. Yes, I do have Windows XP theme selected in my Appearance properties. I think the reason this database is using the old-style buttons is because it used to be from an MS Access 2000 database on a Windows 98 machine. Since I upgraded everything and converted the database to MSA 2003 I think it is still retaining the old-style buttons.

If you have any other suggestions I'd appreciate it.

Gerry,
Looks like the button style is linked to the XP windows settings. If you want the XP look, I guess you'll have to create a new switchboard in your ( old) Dbase.

Gerry:

Have you considered rebuilding the database by importing all the components into a Access 2003 blank database? It's the only way I'm aware of to get the look you want from a database created in a previous version of Access.
