Ok, here's my problem, I've been racking (sp?) my brain and the internet for a solution, or at least an explanation.

I have a database written in Access 2000 on windows 2000. I then without thinking, saved it on Access 2002. Now I continue getting this error on search combo boxes, with the function str highlighted, as well, on someone elses code, the function Hex also has a problem.
I've checked the references, and all are ok, except for one to Excell, on 2000, it's listed as MISSING, and when I try to fix it, by clicking on browse, it won't let me hit ok, ie, it gives me an error.
I've tried to change the reference of Visual Basic for Applications, as there are about 6 of them, it won't let me.

If anyone can figure out what my problem is, I would be very greatful.
And yes, I tried searching past posts.

How depressing to learn that this problem persists for AC 2002.

This is a "references" problem as you might well realize - since the first thing you discussed involved finding the references.

The problem is almost certainly that something changed in your library module (the one marked MISSING) that makes it incompatible with AC2K. I.e. it must reference something that wants a higher version of some other library.

Unfortunately, unless you can find ALL the libraries to correspond with the ones checked in your references box, you are going to be out of luck. Remember that version numbers often appear as part of file names. So DAO35.TLB (from AC97) became DAO36.TLB (from AC2K). You might have to examine every file to see if you can find a partial name match that differs only in the version number that was appended to the name.

Since you obviously have Access 2002, did you also install Excel 2002? If you did not, the library you really want might not exist. And I will guess that you used to import or export spreadsheets through your database, which is why the reference is checked in the first place.

Since I don't have a copy of Office 2002, all I can do is offer the above advice on finding the updated versions of the modules in your reference list. Wish I could do more for you.
