When I bring my computer to the rehab hospital and try and connect to their router it say limited access, and my browser won’t open. Right next to it my wife’s computer opens find. Same router same browser. Any other place my computer opens fine. Where do I start looking? Anybody have any ideas?

Does their system have the IP addresses registered for 'valid users' giving full access?

Does your wife's computer have software installed to allow their system to recognise it as 'valid'?

While trying to fix it I did a diagnostic an it said something that like no IP address but I had no idea what it was talking about. It worked ok before I left for a trip. It worked ok in my motel Where would I find the IP address off my wife's computer and where would I enter it on mine.

IP address is a unique identifier for your computer. There are basically 2 types; Static and Dynamic. Static are assigned by a network administrator and Dynamic are assigned at connection with a server (via a protocol called DHCP). Dynamic addresses often stay the same for a long time (even after contact with multiple servers) but can at some point change.

The easiest way to check your IP address is to open a command prompt (type CMD in your computers search window under Start or the Windows logo) and type ipconfig once the command prompt box opens. It will present you with some data about windows ip configuration. The bit you are looking for is IPv4 Address, whicj will look something like xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
If your PC is ultra modern, you may get an IPv6 Address. This is the new format being phased in.

with computers anything is possible, the os is both win 7. I think KIsskint is on the right tract. I followed his instruction and retrieved my IP address but don't know were to put it next time I go to the rehab

I have never used my own IP address to connect to any device, however I have used other devices IP address (gateways) to connect to. My guess is the network at the rehab is seeing one of your computers as a threat. I would to a nursing station and ask if there is a passcode for the Wi-Fi.

I could be wrong.

Good luck,
Richard

Dim BoxRocks
BoxRocks = Nursing station
internet +Box Rocks (is null)

Actually I have the username and pass word, but untill I have a connection I can't enter them.
Thanks for trying
Richard (Dick)
5 Richards in my first grade class  (1949) so they assigned us each a nick name

So if there are 5 Dicks in your class of 49 how did you end up Dick 7 and don't say it's inches.

They named one Rick, Dick, Ricky, Richie. 7 is my second favorite number.
Actually I was in the second grade before I realized my name wasn't "RichardSitdown"
then I got suspended in the third grade, but it really wasn't my fault. I got suspended for parking my car in the teaches spot but there wasn't any sign that said teacher's only

When my relatives come out from PA, OH, they will say "where's Dickie" my mom would have a fit. Let me ask you this Dickie, have you ever worn a "Dickie" kind of half turtle neck thing? Or is that redundant...dickie wears a dickie...haha

Richard

people do call me Richie:rolleyes:

Of all the names I heard as a kid none of them was Dickie. After going into the Navy it then turn to titles or titles and last name Except for booth camp that was mostly expletives. Now out of the military and in a ministry it is mixed between title, title and last name, title and first name, first name.

so we should address you now as:

Commander Richard RichardSitdown Dick7Access??
