Here is my problem. I have created a dbase that takes a download of financial data on a four weekly basis to produce an report for my users. The data always comes across with the same numer of columns but at each four weekly period the date moves on. To show this data in a meaningful way I need to change the field heading automatically, based on the date in the data to show the current Period and Year. The dates given in the download cannot be used as the field names as they are not in the correct format.

1/ Does my post make sense, probaly not.

2/ Can anybody help.

The field headings come across in the format "RES-14Jul07". I import the data and work out the financial period and year, in the format "Period 1 07/08" based on our company's yearly cycle. And it is the "Period 1 07/08" I want to use as the field name. So that they appear asthe field names on the eventual output.

Nope.

Will go and have a play. Never used a crosstab before. Aything I should look out for.

Why does the field name matter? If you want specific names you can always use a query and change the alias.

I want to do it automatically based on the ever changing dates from the original download. The intention was that others can import the data and click on a button to produce the report. Not spend ages renaming the fields each period.

Nope' I'm too thick today to understand what you want to do!
