Like "*" & [Enter your last name, or leave blank for all Rep's to be Shown] & "*"

when I put this in the query and then run a report with it. The statment doesn't all show up. Is there a way to make the text fit on the screen

You don't have control over the size & format of that dialog box.
The best solution is to make your own and have the report's
query reference the field in question.
