Dear all,

I look after a single Access 97 database which is used by many people. The forms are in single view and now many of the users want the forms in datasheet view for managing records. I can handle this no problem but some of my users want to paste records straight into the datasheet view. I have a unique project ID running through all the records and unique record id but when I paste records in I keep getting errors.

Is there anyway I can work in and out of Excel/Access in order to let users update their records. Idealy i would like to give the user an export data and inport data button so they can export the form records to excel, update them and then import them to the form.

I know I can import tables but I do not let the user have access to tables?

Any hints help would as always be appreciated.

Thanks
Mark

First of all, exporting to excel to modify the records is NOT what you want to do. Are your users using paste or paste append? Where are the records being copied from? A little more detail might better my understanding of your problem.

Thanks for the reply:

My users want to paste in records they already have created in Excel.

They want to work in and out to create graphs.

Is there any way that a user can have their own spreadsheet linked to a table.

ie multiple user spreadsheets linked to one table.

The users manage their spreadsheet and inport their data into the table but do not overwrite other users existing records.

Thanks
Mark
