Hi all

I have a database I built for my employers that is accessed by up to as many as 50 users at one time. It is a relational database. I did a compact and repair this morning which changed the BE from 215MB to 45MB. I went to lunch and came back and the database is now 58MB. Does anyone have any ideas as to why it has increased by 13MB within an hour? There is no way this is caused by geniune data records.

Thanks

Gareth

This will shrink it back down for ya.... there is a loada reasons why its gains in size buffers, actual data etc..

Hi
Thanks for your reply.
I have already done this, as per my post. I am trying to find out more detail as to why it has increased in size so quickly in an attempt to rectify the problem.

Memo fields are very prone to this - the more you have, the worse it gets

Also does your database use temporary tables . These can cause a lot of bloat if they are created often.

I do not use DAO but I will think about this for future models. I do also use some memo fields. Thanks for your help everyone. :-)

I think that's called the blunderbuss approach to troubleshooting :)
