Date as a number

How do I put a date into a number format i.e. 34567 - I want to create a sort / grouping field in a report using date and another number (345) to create 34567.345

so you want something like

(USA Format)

03/15/2003 to look like

03152003

and then you want to append .xxx onto it?


mydate="03/15/2003"
mydate=replace(mydate,"/","")
AppendData=".12345"
mynewstring=mydate & AppendData

will produce

3152003.12345
(leading zero's are removed)
