Is the object in question open at the moment? Because you are not allowed to delete an open object, particularly one residing on another system. There is also the matter that the other system has to "know" you in the networking sense. Otherwise, you are just a visitor. Without more info about this stubborn object, we might have a hard time deciphering this problem.
