Say I have an Excel Table which is a linked table in Access. (source table is an Excel File). I don't want it to be vice versa.

If I try to run a Delete Query to erase the whole LinkedTable, I get an error saying something like "Deleting records on linked table is not supported by ISDM (?)"

But yet I can delete data in individual fields of the linked table.

What's goin' on? How can I "erase" all the records in the Linked Excel table using a Delete Query?

Hi j,

i don't know the proper answer to this but i thought i'd post as no-one else has. It seems that you can't delete rows over the connection ( at least no in 97, can't talk for the others ) although you can add new records and edit exisiting ones. I know you said you don't want it to be vice-versa but it's so easy to chuck data back into excel from access that it will be worth it if you need to do much more than run queries against it, and at least you can add some indexing if reqd,
