I'm going to approve the message but move it.

Also, note that if you are looking at newer versions of Access than Ac2007, a lot of the security and protection in earlier versions of Access went away with that version.

I would take a look at what @isladogs posts. He writes extensively on db security

I have the book, but there is no mdb with it. Where did you see the reference to one?

Ah, the download site is no longer in service. Garry retired several years ago. I can ask him about it, but no guarantees.

Extracts from the book are available from Helen Feddema's Access Archon site:
Garry Robinson's Access Security Book is #120 on the list but there is no download file

Or have a look at the various articles on my website. For example:

User Security in Access is dead. Microsoft killed it rather than fixing it some years ago. I'll attach several documents explaining how to get around problems.

I thought I attached them. I think the site dropped them because they weren't zipped. So, I'll try again.

No reply yet, but as noted, he's retired and tends to travel a lot....

Garry's book was written around 2003. User level security was deprecated with Access version 2007.
My articles deliberately focus on solutions for ACCDB files in A2007 or later as that is what the vast majority of Access users use now.

I'm under the impression that the following site is maintained and managed by Garry Robinson:-

It may harbour the file you are after somewhere.

Failing that, it is an excellent resource for any MS Access programmer...

I understand difference between 2003 and current time ms access versions
I mean to read gary's book as a code source

for example your StartUpProps function in your demonstration database link, i found it in gary's book as is
so that reading this book as a source of codes will be very helpful

and thanks again for your link its very helpful

i know i have a copy of Gary Robinson's code and pdf about Access Protection and Security.
unfortunately i dropped my external hdd just 4 days ago. and nothing is showing
up when i plug it in. therefore i lost all my db collection (i have gathered from
this forum and other sites).

luckily i have an old 300gb hdd that has the original access codes in it.

so here it is and enjoy.

arnel,
Do what I did then, take it apart. On mine it was an internal disk, but the heads had stuck, so I took it apart and followed some instructions on YouTube.
I had nothing to lose and it was working again, so I could clone it, ASAP.

However I would only use it for anything I would be prepared to lose, like downloaded files from here of other member's dbs. :)
