Hi guys,

i am currently running a live database at the moment, but there is something weird happening.

Every few hours or so, it locks people out of the shared database saying that the file is not a database file and/or its corruopted. The database is a FE/BE situation shared amongst 12 others.

It works fine for a while but then suddenly it breaks down. Can anyone suggest a fix ?

We were the victim of the blaster.exe virus attack a few days ago, but we have cleared that up and the system seems to be working fine.

PLease any ideas? very desperate....

Many thanks in advance...

Regards

Darren

temp fix

I can only get it working again when i do a compact and repair. But i dont understand what it is that is meant to be repaired or fixed!!!! The same problem happens every couple of hours.

Thanks

just read

Just read through other peoples stories that had this similiar problem, though im a little confused on how i go about it.

If im to import all the data to a new database. how do i go about it. remembering that the lastest database is still running and i cant lose the data.

Do i have to stiitch the old DB back together then import it to a new DB. ? If i just rename to the same one, split it and the over write the old Back End ssystem will i have to relink the tables again?

When you say "running" is your db located on the web (gathering data) or is it just in constant use by your 12 users? If just in use by your users then I would have them log out of the system for about 5 minutes (all you'll really need to do this). To import:

Create a new db
from the file menu choose File -- Get External Data -- Import
Navigate to the file with your FE (forms/reports/etc) Import all of these objects
Choose File -- Get External Data -- Import Again
Navigate to the BE (tables) and import all objects

Now you have a complete database again. Then you can go through the process of splitting and relinking tables... hopefully this will solve your problem as it sounds like you have a corrupt db (either FE or BE)....

HTH.
