At first I hated dark, went back to light in about 10 seconds. Within days, my eyes literally felt the strain of light mode, especially in a room with low light level so I switched back to dark and am still using it weeks later. It takes a bit of getting used to, but I like it now. Perhaps all I needed to do was dim the monitor when the white hurt my eyes, but since every other thing on the laptop is in white and doesn't bother me, I didn't think that the monitor light level might be the real cause. The one thing bad about dark mode is that some people seem to be formatting their text as black (or some such colour) which can't be read in dark mode without selecting (back lighting) it. Someone suggested removing the ability to format text in those colours but I suspect it's not possible since you can type in your own colour values.
