Drop down filter on report header

Hey Everyone

I want to do something I would have thought is very simple and obvious (although not for me so far). I have my report set up, very simple just a header row and detail below.

I want to set it up so the headers are drop downs for the available values in a selection of the fields - is this possible and if so how do you do it? e.g. i have a waste type column, this is a lookup field in my table and i want these available values to show as a "report filter" per say.

Any help, even if its leave it because its not possible, is appreciated.

It is possible, but the report would have to be in Report view, not Preview. May need to be a subreport with the data, but I'm not sure. I have one set up that way, but it's been so long I forget why.
