Entering data into forms

How do I make it so that saved data (or a record) on a form can be looked through but can't be altered or deleted, while also making it possible to add a new record (as it usually lets you do)?

Also, when you update or add a new record into a form, should the data automatically be saved in the appropriate tables once you click on the 'Next' button on the record selector?

go to the forms Data properties and change allow edits and deletes from YES to NO.
