I wasn't sure where this post belonged so I've put it here.

I have an Access FE / SQL Server 2012 BE set up and have set up some reports that link into these. Can someone tell me if there is a better way to set up the reporting model?

The set up is like this:
Excel links into a database tables using Microsoft Query (with data parameters).
There's a pivot table based on this data table with dates grouped in Years, Quarter, Months and Weeks.
I have another excel tab 'DATA' with columns for Weeks, Months Years which pulls data from the Pivot table using GetPivotTableData formulas.
Finally the main reports are derived from the 'Data' tab.

How is SSRS for grouping data into predefined Time Periods. I've built some basic reports in SSRS. Or SSAS.

The method I'm using gets the job done but it's seems too convoluted.

Are there any websites which discuss reporting methods and models anyone can recommend?

Regards,

Peter
