I use Access 2007 a lot but know nothing about programming so rely solely on the non-programming tools available in Access 2007.

I have a database which has a form with a button linked to macro which saves and then generates a report based on the form for emailing. The report has a piecemeal design as required by the recipient which looks fine as an Access report and as a pdf but when I export to Excel I lose the formatting completely.

Is there a solution to this problem - am I missing something basic?

Any ideas very welcome

One way would be create a Macro in Excel to re-format the report in the manner in which you want it.

Then all you need to do is run the Excel Macro either when the Excel spreadsheet opens or (I think) it should be possible to run the Excel Macro from Access via the Excel Object.

And just as an FYI - Exporting to Excel has never really been too good at keeping any formatting that is in the report. So, if you want to send it to Excel, then I would use, like Ted suggests, writing code to format it like you want. You don't need to do the code in Excel but it does have a macro recorder which allows you to get the code to do stuff and then you can translate it over to Access. But since you are not too familiar with programming, it could be quite a stretch for you.

Many thanks guys. I will try the excel macro route and if I struggle I guess I need to pay to get some code written!!
