I've updated my table with a new field name. The data type is in the same format as the others (just what I want). I then updated my form and added the new field name via the field list. In my table, I've set the default value to "0", but it's not showing up on the form. What am I missing?

Are you saying that when you add a new record the newly created field doesn't default to zero? Or are you expecting the new field to display a zero in all existing records? If the former, something is awry; if the latter, things are as they should be.

A Default Value only populates a field in a record when it is originally created. To have the field in existing records populate with a zero you'd have to run an Update Query against the table.
