for beginners: cascading Combo boxes

I was looking here in this message board for a beginners explaination of how Cascading combos work.

I didn't find one... but I did find this link to this page.

There's plenty of good posts on this site re what you want.
 
The first example is a bit daft, but they do get it right in the 2nd example don't they?

No. That suggests that the two parts of the cascade should be in the same table which causes mass data duplication. The two different sides of the cascade are different entities and should, therefore, be in different tables.

Have a look at my example and FAQ on this thread - it shows the correct way to do a cascading combobox and utilises only one line of VBA code.

That website, as listed above, is full of stupid little solutions. It has been denounced here on numerous occasions for different topics and solutions.
 
ah of course, damn mornings:)

That method you mentioned is the one I tend to use anyways, as it's obvious if the data and tables are right.
