Form only allows Data entry mode

I have made a simple updateable form based from one table. When I set the form to dynaset or dynaset(inconsistent updates) and get back into the form, the form only allows the addition of new records, despite the fact that Data entry is turned off. When I set it to snapshot, it shows all existing records but is not updateable. Any suggestions?

Is AllowEdits set to Yes?

Yes, which made it puzzling. Did a compact and repair and now it's working properly. Weird. thanks for the help.
