Form retrieves 1st record data?

I have form designed on a query. When I open the form the form prompts for a student ID #. After entering the ID # it should take me to that student record but for a brief moment it displays the 1st record in the query results and then the requested record?

Seems like its just doing a filter before it gets to your record with ID# specified. So, the query pulls all data from the database source, then you input a value (ID#), and then that record gets filtered. If you design your forms this way, it's not uncommon to see a record that shouldn't be there and then disappear.

This is more apparent when using a database other than the Access database (i.e., SQL, Oracle).
