Form with unique numbering system

Hiya,
My boss has asked me to create a database whereby a person can input the type of project being undertaken and then the database gives a unique number for the documentation for the project. There will be at least 2 drop down menus as well as a text boxes. There will be various types of projects from picking from the drop down menu, each having their own particular numbering system....
Should i keep everything in one table or separate everything out...

Should i keep everything in one table or separate everything out...

Before you start it's best to understand Normalisation (or what NOT to do) before you start designing tables - it should iron out design flaws from the beginning.

There are plenty of posts on the subject to search upon here and there's even some guidance from Microsoft on the subject.

Another good search might be best practice if you don't want to fall into other traps as you develop.
