Quick question, it isn't life or death so not to worry.

Is there any way of putting formatted text such as bold/italic in a textbox, similar really to the same way in which we can do it here when we post a message to this forum.

Is it even possible to obtain a patch to do this???

Thanks,

Liam

Liam,

Not precisely sure if this is what you're after, but with Access 2000 or later, you can use "conditional formatting." Select a control on a form in design view, click to open the Format pulldown menu, select Conditional Formatting: this will allow you to change a textbox's formatting depending on its contents: a certain value is reached and the control turns red, for example. Otherwise, for a static approach, see the Format Tab on a text box's property dialog: Fore color, font weight properties might be of interest to you.

Tim

Liam,

You can also use the AfterUpdate event on the text box to examine the value entered in the text box and change its font, "boldness" (weight), italics, underline, color, etc. If it's not a user-entered field, you can do the same on the form's OnCurrent event.

There is also a type of control called the Microsoft Rich Textbox Control. It may not be in all versions of Access (I use Access 2000 Developers Edition). It supports RTF in a text box - you can do all sorts of crazy things if you know RTF coding. However, the RTbox control will not print in a report. It's only good on a form.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like there's no easy answer. I've seen something like this for sale by FMS Inc. which is what got me thinking in the first place. But I'm a tight git and I ain't paying =)
