Today I noticed this banner at the top of the page:

"Happy Birthday {username} from your friends at Access World Forums!"

I suppose I should be thankful that it got the date right.

So now you know, after all these years, that I was not personally sending out the happy birthday messages. Drat!

Thanks for the heads-up Doc. I will look into it.

Thanks, y'all. (Yes, I'm from the old South.)

It was a great day because both of my local grandsons spent some time with me. We even watched a movie together and ate popcorn. My youngest was still in a "cuddly" mood so I made it a point to return the cuddles. He's at the age where he can't do that as much because he's "too old" for that sort of thing. (You know how young teen-age boys are "too old" for showing affection.) But it was dark and nobody was looking.

So now I'm 72. Still walking 3 miles every day when weather allows and my schedule doesn't bomb out on me.

Popcorn? Low-salt, light butter.

Happy Birthday Doc.

I am in Cozumel and it is one of our diver friends birthday today. He is around the 65 mark?
He just rode 101 miles around the island on his pushbike to celebrate. o_O

Oh wow Doc, you have all those little variations over there. Did the Americans invent popcorn? I like sweet. I got a sweet and salt bag the other day by mistake. I looked down at the shelf, saw the sweet word and missed the salt bit. Never again! When I was eating it, I was confused over if I liked it or not.

Did the Americans invent popcorn?

Well, ... sort of. Early Americans did. Since maize was not known in Europe until it was found here and brought back, we have some claim on it. But the USA cannot make the claim. According to Wikipedia, in some of the old ruins in Mexico, popped corn was found that dated back to 3600 BCE. The first USA reference under the name "popcorn" comes from around 1848.

And thanks to all for acknowledging my day.

From the perspective of a Brit, popcorn is an American staple, a bit like the burger.
