Gradient background on Tab Control

I have a form which has a tab control in it. By default the tab control has a white to sand gradient color background, from the tabs to the tab control background. I can't seem to figure out how to change the color. I have tried the properties, along with the shape fill. When I select shape fill and choose a gradient color, it only changes the tabs, not the entire tab control element.

Any ideas on how to change the entire tab control element to any gradient I desire?

I think the Tab controls is inheriting the colour scheme. These tabs only support bitmaps and whilst I can make proper gradient images into bitmaps, if that was all I had to look forward to I doubt I would get out of bed. To answer your question because the options are very restrictive, I have the whole Tabcontrol Transparent, don't do grey. You could put an image behind the entire tab control but I try to leave the major data entry forms clean. If you do convert an gradient file to a bitmao put on the Tab it has to be exactly the right size to fit your tab otherwise your tab will expand if the image is too big.
