Hi All

Firstly, I need to say how invaluable this site has proved for me over the past 3 months. You soon realise everything you need to know is right here, so thanks to all the forums that have helped me - trust me there's been many.

I am from the UK but am currently doing 6 month voluntary work in Uganda's National Referral Mental Health Hospital, called Butabika. I'm here supporting my wife whose running a diploma course in Child and Adolescent Mental Health to Ugandan professionals, whilst also working on the childrens ward.
I am an IT manager, and when I came had a very open remit to "assist" where I could in the IT infrastructure. My main focus however was soon creating a database for the medical records department which needed to be a reference index with search capability, as well as provide reporting and statistical data to the ministry of health.
The problem was I hadn't used Access to build a fully functional database since my Uni days (longer than i care to remember), other than a little bit of ODBC queries here and there.

So I have now created the database, albeit a little crudely, but it works and i'm happy with it - and i'm going to pilot phase on Monday. I only have 2.5 more months to get it embedded in and used properly, so fingers crossed. (I know if people saw it they'd question why i seemed to stop at 2nd normalised form, but i have my reasons. Misguided perhaps, but it made sense at the time).

Other than that, I'm 36, feeling my age, need to exercise more, hardly ever read, addicted to game of thrones, married, thinking about babies (somewhat reluctantly), and having a great time in Uganda, although working here does come with its own unique "issues". But thats for another time.

I'll post a question now - but not here - i realise this is just a quick hi. So hi.
