Help ! ! Ole Prblem

Problem: one of my client stations will not properly bring up the linked word doc when running a report. The document is on central server and all other clients run it fine. This particular client computer when running it or editing it comes up with the error "The operation on the document object failed. The OLE server may not be registered. To register the OLE server, reinstall it."
Now again this report runs fine on all other client computers. I have done everything from reinstalling the entire Office 2002 on that station to totally reformatting the computer and starting totally fresh. Is it in the references somewhere? I am going crazy. There seems to be no rhyme or reason. Please help!

Hey Chris,

go into the code (view - Code (from design mode)).

Now select Tools - References and lookup "Microsoft Word 8.0 Object Library". Select it and then try your report again.

I should also mention that I had a similar problem before because one of the clients only had Word 95 so you would need MS Word 7.0 Object Library - but I couldn't find one anywhere so we had 97 installed on that PC and it solved it.

OLE Problem

I had "Microsoft Word 10.0 Object Library" and selected it and...it still doesnt work. Thanks for the suggestion though. Anything else you can think of.

I had a similar problem... In my case, the Norton AV had its script blocking feature enabled and it was causing my OLE issue. I simply disable it and the OLE problem went away.
