I have a button using a macro to open a form in Hidden mode. Then I have another button on another form to open this form that was hidden.
When I open the form, the form is virtually blank apart from the form caption name. But when I close this and press the button again the form opens as normal.
I do not understand why?
I was told that once you hide the form and when you open the form again, it should appear normal. Why do I get this blank form??? Only by hitting the button again then the form is normal....
Anyone please???

What are the arguments you have in your macro to open the form in Hidden mode? Just remember that you do not want to have DATA ENTRY set to YES. You need it set to NO so data will display.

Hi Bob!
My data entry was already set to no.
My arguments are openform, form name, view form, window mode hidden in the macro..
I used another button in another form to open this form again. Just open form normal.
I tried requerying, etc but nothing seems to be working...
Thanks for helping out all the time. Deeply appreciated....

If you can post a copy of the database with fake data we can take a look and see what's happening. Sometims that will solve it much quicker.

Hi bob!
Thanks for your prompt response.
Kindly find attached db as per your request.
Login in as user, password is user.
click on cash management, then click on input sales.
when you do that a blank form appears.when you close it and click again, then the form with the data appears.
I still don't know why?
thanks for your help....
I have zipped the file but still unable to attach it. I notice the max file size is 2 mb but the zipped file is just over 2mb. It just says invalid file.
any other way to send it to you??
???

Did you make sure to

Run COMPACT AND REPAIR first before zipping?

Hi Bob!
Yes I did but the file is still 2.81MB.
I tried again to attach but withou success....
What can I do?
Thanks and regards!

Hi Bob!
I am still having a big headache with the blank forms. All the forms that I have hidden are facing the same problems. I have to close the blank form and click on the button again. Only then the data appears in the form. This is not acceptable by the users.
You mentioned that you don't have these issues when you tried my db. Are you using Access 97. I am using access 97. Does it make any difference using different version? I hope not.
My weekly summary page pulls the totals from the different forms and this is also not working consistently. i.e. Using Forms![FormName]![TextBox].
When you have a calculated field, can you still store the value?
How do I check whether the database is corrupted or not?
I am learning everyday but the hours I spent trying to make things work is driving me insane!!
Hope you can help......
Thanks!

I don't have Access 97 to be able to try that. It works in 2010 though.

As for your summary totals, I would pull from the tables and not from the forms. Each form would need to be opened in order to have that calculation.

Calculated values should not be stored unless you do not have the ability to recreate the calculation or, for example, if you have a tax rate that can change, you would want to either store the tax rate or the calculation.

As for corruption, there is no real one way to check. You might try IMPORTING (not copying and pasting) everything into a new, blank database shell and see if that helps. That usually will clean up many types of corruption.

Hi Bob!
That is what we call efficiency! What a prompt response....
Thanks! I still have some nails left!! Ha! Been really stress trying to get the db ready for testing.
Ok!
I will create a new blank db and import everything over to see if it works...
If not, I need to pull the fields from the tables and use the form's control to calculate the values. But what format do one use to pull from the tables??
Is it good to have calculated fields in forms?
Thanks once again! You are my saviour....

Hi Bob!
just a quick update to you. I created a new db and imported all the files. I have been having 2 db as one is for the tables and the other for the other objects.
Still no joy! I suppose I have to resolve to pulling the fields from the tables and then calculate within the form. Please guide me with the right format to adopt?
thanks!
