how many fields are allowed

I have a cvs excel file with 8000 lines, I would like to try to input these fields into 1 table is this possible?

I am not sure where the limit is but I would not think 80,000 is to much. It seems to me that I have imported upwards of 200,000, kind of slow but it will do it.

Just go to tables/new and select import.

Sometimes a link table is a better option, just depends on what your needs are. With a link the data is dynamic, whenever the source data changes the link table will be current. But links are a pain in the ass and have a lot of limitations. They do have their uses though and I have used them often to mine data from various text files.

Have you got your terminology right? If you mean 8000 records (equivalent to rows in Excel) that's no problem. If you mean 8000 fields (equivalent to columns in Excel), forget it!
