I was wondering what a person would get payed for making databases with Access and Visual Basic all day?

Anyone have a job doing that?

If so how much do you make a year and how long have you been doing it?

where do you live?

check the web - there is a guy out in the states - who charges by table and form and gives examples

- Some may also show hourly rates
the Last time i look at a It house - it had 95% of the answers already and you just asked can I have x and they bolted it on (this was not access)

the system they had was pretty slick - but they already had the solutions to most problems - I can up with a new problem for them (variables taxes/currencies and it took them 5 mins to find te solution form their bank of resourses -- If you are thinking of setting up then you need to find tese resourses (like a cook book) and then you can offer this out as options

I would have thought a decent Access only programmer would expect to draw around £30k - more if they have network and VB expereince and even more for Web exp

You never ask someone their salary. That's personal information. I have been programming for over 20 years, specifically in Access for over ten. There's more to it than being able to program -- you have to be able to communicate to people in non-technical terms, you have to understand business requirements, you have to be able to translate what someone thinks they need in to what is actually required, you have to be able to multitask, etc.

If you're interested in average salaries based on geographic location, there are a number of resources on the internet that show you just that, like here. You may also want to consider looking here.

M is right
my Access guru who is based in London deserves eveery penny, I would not think to ask him

It does depend upon

Looking at what someone makes is perhaps misleading, perhaps not.

What you care about isn't what I'm worth anyway. It is what the boss is willing to pay to get the job done. For a "save the whole company" project, the boss would pay more. For a "get this grunt work out of the way" job, the boss would pay less.

It is NEVER how much you think you should get paid. It is always how much someone is willing to pay - and the amount you'll accept.
