how to add a few images related to one patient record

Hello,
I have a small patient database and we would like to add a field to hold medical images related to each patient. For some patients we will have 2-3 images. What is the best way to do this?

Hi Debbie,
I would recommend creating another table for the links to your images. I say links because unless you are using ac2007, images do not store well in an Access db. Here's a link to examples from Larry Linson on storing images. Your new table will need a PrimaryKey (AutoNumber) field, a ForeignKey (Long) for the patient PrimaryKey, Text field for the complete url to the image and maybe one more Text field for a description of the image. It will be related 1:m to the Patient table and you should use a MainForm, SubForm scheme to enumerate the image links and maybe display the image on the MainForm when the SubForm record is selected.

If they don't just naturally display then perhaps a SubReport will work for you? There are events in a report that allow you to fetch the image for printing if that is your issue.
