How to de-couple fields and labels?

Hello,

I'm finally attempting (now using Access 2010/2007) to use the report wizards and am running into a small but annoying issue...

How do I de-couple the fields from their labels? Sometimes I want to move a field, and it moves all the other fields... or move a label and it moves the field...

Is there some way that I can select all objects on my report and "click" the "let me do what I want and please stop helping me" attribute, forcing the report designer to just allow me to do what I want?

Thanks,
-Matt G.

So, today, I couldn't remember how to do this... so I resurrected this old post to take a look...

But low and behold, now with Access 2010 it seems that option to remove layout (thereby decoupling labels from fields) doesn't seem to work for me... It is greyed out.

Did the method to decouple labels from fields (like text entry boxes) change in 2010? Or am I doing it wrong...?

I've tried selecting both the labels and the fields, but neither shows the option as not-greyed-out - so I don't know how to do this, short of my old technique of selecting the label, deleting it, and adding back a new one... which just feels lame.

Am I losing it? :)

edit: I'm trying this on forms...

Try grabbing the control in the top left corner to move it individually.

One way is to select the label, right click and select CUT and then right click select PASTE.
