I need some help with what is probably a simple task to most; however, I have limited experience with access. I am a true beginner with this program.

I am learning the 2010 Microsoft Access Software & have been instructed by my Professor to do the following steps and then submit for a grade:

1. Open the Counts by Category query in Design view.
2. Display the Total row and count the Registration ID column.
3. Run Query.
4. Save and close query.

There are Two Columns with a Field & Table listed in each in Design view as follows and they are both checked in the check box for Show.

Column 1:
Field: Category
Table: Outings

Column 2:
Field: Registration ID
Table: Registrations

Could anyone please help me to figure out how to do that? I have already used 4 of 5 allowed attempts and they were all wrong so I don't want to just try again until I at least ask for help. Sorry but I am unable to upload a screen shot because I do not currently have enough posts.

It did let me attach the screen shot if anyone who is willing to help would like to see it.

So what exactly is unclear in the access query tutorials you have found on the web? Or Access totals query description in Access documentation or on the web?

Hey Spike

This school certainly doesn't teach much do they.

Just look at the naming conventions used.

And why would they be asking things like this if they weren't taught in class.

I am glad our Universities are not like this.

Press the big sigma button and choose the type of aggregation you want.

In academia, credit is everything. So when you hand in your assignment, remember to write that the problem was actually solved not by you but by Pat Hartman of AWF.
