How to link 4 databases to shared tables?

I have 4 databases that share 3 tables.

Each database is used for different purposes and other tables which do not relate to the other databases.

My question is: how do I set up the back ends so each database can retrieve and enter data into the 3 shared tables without conflicts??

I know how to split each of the databases to front and back ends but how would I link them all to the 3 tables they share? Should I create one back end with only the 3 shared tables and link the separate back ends for each database???

Any help much appreciated!

Pat - Your quote: (don’t know how to do this the “forum way” and can’t take the time to find out right now!)
“If what you are saying is that among the three applications there are three shared tables and other non-shared tables then they do belong in the same back end database”

YES: and I am going to read up more and think about RI. But let me try to be a bit more specific:

Each database stores data about Providers, 1. Record Reviews (used at the doctor office to do audits) 2. Site Reviews (used at the doctor office to do audits) 3. Untilization Reviews (used in our home office) 4. Complaints & Grievances (home office). Now all of these need the demographic, etc info from the tblProviders, tblSites and tblSpecialties AND the users need to be able to add providers from each of the dbs.
My question is, should there be one BE with tblProviders, tblSites and tblSpecialties for all to link to and then other BE’s for the other “unrelated” tables, distinct for each db? Or should the 3 tables be in one of the db’s BE and the other 3 linked to that?

I think your quote answers that question but I just wanted to make sure!!

I apologize if this is getting too confusing. I know I am not very articulate when it comes to describing what I am trying to do. I do appreciate your answers Pat and was hoping you would be one of the responders as you have helped me very much in the past! Thanks again!

thanks again for your responses..the last one made it clear for me!
