I have added a field to a table used by a form. Whatever I do, the field list still shows the previous fields. Help suggests there is a refresh button but it is not visible anywhere. I've tried logging out and back. I notice that the SELECT for the form also does not include the new field.

The form does not use a query. I hope!.

If the RecordSource for the form is a Select statement then you will have to open it in queyr view and manually add it.

The only way the new field would auto-appear is if the RecordSource was the name of the table or the Select statement was using TableName.* on the table (i.e. to bring in all the fields).

To add the field manually put the form in design view and open the Properties window. Select the Data tab and now click on the little square button with 3 dots at the right hand side of the RecordSource line. This will open you up in query-view. Now add your new field as a new column. Then close and save.

FYI, the fact that the Record Source is a Select Statement means that the Form is based on a Query! Just a Query that Access has generated for you, rather than one you've intentionally created!

James has given you the right poop to correct your problem.

Good luck on your project!

James, you are a star. I suspected that Access had created a query but could not see my way through the jungle. Worked immediately!
