I’m Mad as Hell and I’m not going to take it any more.

What makes me mad as hell? Not a lot. I think the root of most things that really get under my skin is hypocrisy. I can't stand hypocrites.

What mildly pisses me off? Just about everything that's been posted so far. My own additions:

1. People who drive like idiots and then glare at you like you're the moron.
2. People whose complete obliviousness to the world around them puts others in danger (see No. 1).
3. People who are a pain the ass to their waiter and then leave a crap tip or none at all.
4. People who treat public places like their own homes. This includes (but is not limited to) taking up grossly more space than needed, throwing their trash/belongings everywhere, and doing nothing to control their crying babies or misbehaiving children!!! My God, do I hate those people...

Amazon queries, too. You send their customer service department a question and the zombie on the other end gets paid to "best-fit" your query to a list of pre-made FAQs. They just send out the generic FAQ without personalising it to your needs.

It's only when you reply to them again, you get close to a human response.

I emailed them a while back to ask about the copyright status of my reviews and the feasibilty of using them on other sites. I got a reply saying that reviews are copyrighted. I had to email them back and ask the question again.

LOL. I believe hypocrisy is part of the human condition. Show me someone who claims never to be a hypocrite and I'll show you a liar.

I know what you mean. A while back I was trying to find out if an item bought from Amazon.co.uk could be returned to Amazon.ca, or not.

It took nine e-mails and nine replies to finally get a 'No'.

Fair enough, but I think most people make an effort to avoid hypocrisy. Then there are the people who are intenionally hypocritical in an effort to manipulate people, or the people who are so narrowminded that they cannot see their own blatant hypocrisy.

Or how about when I logged on the other day and Amazon kindly made som "recommendations" for me... that happened to be items already on my wish list? Way to go Amazon!

Which reminds me....

5. Tech support people who have no idea what they're doing and do not listen to what you tell them.
Them: "What's the problem?"
Me: "Windows stopped recognizing my router. I've rebooted and power cycled both my machine and the router."
Them: "Let's try powering off the router."

That's because it takes a few months for their servers to finish the query on all the books you've purchased. :p :D

Wow, his book habit is as costly as a drug habit. My ex was the same way. I would spend so much money on books, and he would have them all ready in a week.

Do they have used book stores where you are. You can purchase used ones at a reduced rate.?.? I use them alot. CAn also trade in books that you don't want to keep.

I love to read too, but My collection is not one that most people like.

Of course they do. Don't think I don't spend time and money there too. :o

There's no such thing as a book I don't want to keep.

My collection is not one that most people like.
Chick-lit or westerns?

Spoken like a true book fanatic! :D

What? You don't think I would read books like the Art of War, Grapes of Wrath. :D Ok, you got me on that one. TeeHee. Smut is one way to put it, as well as dark gothic type books. Anne Rice, Christine Feehan, Diana Gabaldon (drove 36 hours straight to get a book signed by her), Susan Kay..

I also ejoy reading coding book. I have Access 2002 Developers Handbook as well as VBA for dummies, JAVA and now ASP.Net. I usually at lunch go down stairs and take notes, on items that sound good for the day. Yup, I'm a geek and darn proud of it. Not a good one yet, but will be one day. One day I will be as good as SJ! :D Well, one can dream can't they.

Have you read SJ reviews? They're pretty good...

Edit: Make that 'Stu's Reviews' :)

Out of interest, have you read the new Anne Rice novel? The Jesus one which, annoyingly, I forget the name of.

Interesting change of direction:

"I’m Mad as Hell and I’m not going to take it any more."

to

"Have you read any good books, lately?"

in 15 easy steps. :D

It is quite odd how often a thread intended to be political turns light-hearted and fun and vice versa.

No, I have not. I am not sure I can bring myself to read it. I have read the Vampire Series, Beauty's Series, Belinda and Exit to Eden. Love'em all!!!!

I also recently discovered a new world of Phantom of the Opera books. Susan Kay's Phantom was retired, but now since the movie, it appears to have been brought back out. I have the orginial, and will soon have the new version. As well as a whole slew of other books. I am going to start reading all of them here soon.

With my ADHD, if the book doesn't catch me in the first few chapters, I put it down. In order for me to read it, it has to have really good imagery and plot. That's just me though.

What am I sick and tired of. Hmmm, let me see!!

Liars, backstabbers, my ex, family court, close minded people, bigots, liberals, conservatives, unforgiving straight people (AKA Homophobics), the bible belt in the US, and most of all people who judge before they have the whole story. :D That about sums it up.

And that just about covers all of us around here   :p
