Hi.

First, please excuse my lousy english grammar...
I'm moving my access app from std access data file (be) over to sql server. In the Access app, I am using 'direct access' to underlaying linked table - in the manner that form field datasource are directly to underlaying querry/table.
In the sql version, I expect several more users (more than 20-30 users), and I'm start to think that direct access might be a 'dangerous' solution, when it comes to crashes and record locking.

I could make (popup)forms for registrating new records/editing existing and thereafter use a keystroke to run sql update and a form requery (in my words indirect access). But - the question is - do I need it? Is the conequences so big that I should understood that in the first place...?

Thanks!

Brg. Geirr.

I use SQL BE all the time and NEVER had a record locking problem.
As long as every user gets their own copy of the front end.
