Input from RS232

I need to use a barcode reader with RS232 rather then a standard wedge.

I have not been able to find out how to access the com1 port from Access.

I have found a software package that converts the RS232 input to wedge input, and it will do the work for me. The software is Keyport.

However I would like to solve this inside of Access, if anyone can help me.

assuming the barcode reader doesnt come with some control or dll to make life easy.

You will need to use something like the mscomm32 activex control to gain control of the com port, It should appear as "Microsoft communications control" in the activex controls list.
