Not sure if this is the right group to post this thread, but I didn't see anything that was specific to Internet Explorer.

I was having a lot of problems on my home laptop, trying to access the Internet. I could open it once, and manuever all over the internet, but if I closed the window, when I tried to reopen Internet Explorer, it would lock up.

So, ran the "fix-it" for Windows XP, and now, I can get to the Internet every time I open the window. The problem is, my address bar does not work, the favorites do not work. Whenever a pop-up window needs to open, it gives the error "The specified module could not be found", then opens a blank window. The only way that I can get to different website, is using the search engine on MSN.com.

So, does anyone have any suggestions on what is missing, what needs to be done, does it need to be reloaded?

Thanks for your help!

What is the fix-it program ? is it this clicky

Don't panic but the majority of info on this is either related to a MySql or an installer error (there is a potential fix for the installer but hang on ;)), this is IMO suspicious because using a pop-up is a way to install something dodgy which you may have had and your initial symptoms were part of the problem. Fix-it sorted your connection but you still have an underlying problem.

Questions:

Which version of IE ?
Which (fully updated of course) anti-nasty software are you running ?
Is IE and Windows patched up ?
Have you tried a different browser ?

It could simply be a corrupt file and you can do a repair clicky but I think you should check there not something nasty that causes this behaviour just to be sure ;).

No, no different brower. I believe that it's version 7.0 of Internet Explorer. The anti-nasty software that we used to "fix" was through Windows. We didn't run anything else.
