Is a Vertical Group Header possible?

I'm trying to duplicate an older paper format where the title of a grouping was listed in a vertical bar along the side of the group. So far I haven't been able to get access to do this, the books I have only explain things in a horizontal tiered system.

anyone know how to do this or if its possible?
