Is there a better way or counting values?

I have a small table with 46 fields that I now have to perform some calculations on .

IE: for one field that has a possible answer of 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 (ratings) I need to find out:

The number of respondents who chose a value in the field
number of respondents who chose each value (# of 1's, # of 2's etc)
the number of respondents who did not choose a value

Do I have to make a query for each count of each number and then pull those queries into another query so that I can display them or is there a better way to do it?

Thanks in advance
Robyn

try dropping two columns on the query, Exmpl:

Field: _____ ratings______ratings
Table:
Total:_____Groupby______Count

this will group by rating and tell you how many times that rating came up.

let me know if you need any more help

That's perfect, now I have about 15 of the fields that I have to do the same thing with, as soon as I drop another field into the query the original changes.

So, I have to make a bunch of little queries and bring them all in right?

ie: ratings as you described, then I have about 6 fields that are yes/no answers that have to have the same summary information. How many yes, how many no for each field.

Thanks again
Robyn

Robyn,
you should be able to drop in your "Yes" and "no" fields and count them in the same query. however, if i remember correctly (i haven't played with yes and no sums in a while) when you run your second query to sum of what you counted in your "yes" and "No" fields they are going to come up as negative numbers for some reason, what i did to get around that was add however many i needed to make the number positive: Exmpl,
1st query
Field:_______IE_______IE_____1stQuestion___2ndQuestion
Total:______Groupby___Count___Count_______Count

2nd query
Field:_IE______IE_____Countof1stQuestion______Countof2ndQ
Total:_Groupby_Count__Sum__________________Sum_____

That should give you your totals per IE and your totals per question
hope that helps
