I work for a small company called Total Solutions IT Group Ltd, located in Bourne, Lincolnshire, about 15 miles north of Peterborough. Our website is www.totalsolutions.co.uk. We're basically split between development and technical support. The development team is made up of web developers (currently 2 expanding shortly to 3) and desktop/backend developers (currently 2 shortly going down to 1 - me!), although our new Development Director is a developer through and through and will be getting stuck in to the development work as well.
Most of the desktop applications we have built and now maintain are written in MS Access. Most have SQL backends, one has a MySQL backend and a few still have MS Access backends. Our newer developments are written in .NET, with a mix of VB.Net and C# (this being our preference going forward), SQL and Entity Framework / LinqToSQL. We have one application currently being written in WPF / C#.
We are actively recruiting for a software developer to join me (http://www.totalsolutions.co.uk/vacancy/software-application-developer/). The ideal candidate will have experience building solutions in MS Access VBA. Experience in .NET would certainly be advantageous as this is the direction we're going for new developments.
Our new development director is bringing some exciting work our way as he brings with him some high profile clients, and the vision is to grow the development department significantly. He is also looking for us to embrace other technologies so I think it's a very interesting and challenging time to be working here.
