Jumping Icons WIN 10

I have put this out there once before, but maybe there is somebody that has come across the same thing since then.

My wife's computer (win 10) (HP laptop) often when she opens her computer the icons are a different size and are moved location.

To fix it all I need to do is to right click on desktop, click any other size for icons, then click medium size and all the icons go back to their original location. Driving me crazy, however, that I can't find the permitant fix.

My computer HP win 10, never happens.

did you turn off desktop icon autosort?
(its a property in there)

Thanks, however that wasn't the problem. auto arrange was already off.

Do you have some sort of vendor-supplied or 3rd party "desktop manager" software on that machine? And if so, does it auto-run at startup? I've had a couple of those go whacko on me like you describe.

It often happens after changing the display resolution and doesn't always revert after you swop back.
I used to have a utility that stored the icon settings and positions for just this situation. Do a Google search and you should find something free.
