My how things have changed......

Trying to do a simple Dim statment to define a database prior to setting to currentdb. But, I keep getting error "user defined type not defined"... All the samples n' such show the use of "Dim db as database" but it's not working for me. I even cut and past some stuff out out the Northwinds database and it too failed.
Could someone please give me a clue?????

Thanks,
Doug W.

Up to and including Access 97
Dim dbs as Database
Should work. Above 97 i think its
Dim dbs as DAODatabase but someone might correct me on that.

Jim.... Thanks for the reply. I tried what you recommended and alais it did not work either. I am trying to do this in the body of a function. Is there possibly something I need to add to the general declarations that I'm forgetting?

Thanks,
Doug W.

I searched this site and found the answer. I needed to add Microsoft DAO 3.6 Object Library to my references and that solved this problem. I suspect as I move along through this project more will be sure to appear!!!!!!
