I noticed by chance that in this technical discussion forum there is a space for discussion on non-technical topics.
Maybe it is better to stick to programming things where you have enough studies and skills.
Even here at least do not divide us.

FYI. You can ignore threads and forums very easily and they will not show up

Though we are not quite as bad as the purely social sites, we have moments when we want to discuss other things. It makes it more of a community when we can discuss topics such as news events or a school project for our grand-daughter. Both of those things have happened here online. The non-tech topics are not such bad things as long as we remember the rule to not disrespect other members.

Given how new you are to this forum, perhaps it would be best to not start out by being critical of members with whom you disagree. If you are too delicate to read political discussions, just hide the subforums from yourself as MajP suggested;) Censor yourself, not others or if you like being censored, ask your Access questions on FB.

Pat reminds me of an old analogy that expresses pretty well this particular situation.

It's about the dinner guest who arrives at the host's home and begins the evening by telling the host that his choice of dinner entrees is not very good and suggesting the host quickly cook up the guest's favorite dish instead.

Out of politeness, some hosts might consider accommodating such a request. But future dinner invitations are likely to be few and far between.

I saw something and I said my opinion. No permission needed! A point of view. Mine. It can go in the trash, like everyone else's here.
My asperger thinks of social as a deserved punishment. I won't take this step.
Is MS-Acces on FB a joke?

Too subtle for you? I didn't want to be rude you being so new and all. How about, people who want to censor others should stick with other people who want to censor others. You'll be happier on FB and who knows, maybe there are people who can answer Access questions. Try it. This forum provides ample ways for you to hide the rest of us so we don't offend your sensibilities. Use the tools. You can just avoid certain subforums or you can actually block individual people. You don't get to just drop in and on day 2 set yourself up as the arbiter of what is right and proper to discuss here. You're off to a really bad start since four of the people most likely to actually help you out chose to respond to your initial introduction to how bad you think we are.

Like the old joke of the guy who has a headache. The doctor asks, "Do you know why you have a headache?" The guy says, "Probably because I keep on banging my head against the post." The doctors says, "Stop banging your head against the post."

So if you don't like the tone of the forum, avoid the offensive topics or find another forum that is more to your liking. Though you will be hard-pressed to find a more knowledgeable bunch than the members of this site.

By the way, there is one more line to the joke: The guy says, "But doctor, I'm a woodpecker."

Why are you so hard on me that I have to ask for MS-Acces? I know from the first MS manuals. Only, sometimes, it is MS-Word that breaks.
You are obsessed that I have to do censor or I have to go and find one for myself. Even for the word 'censor', you have to update your vocabulary.

I will do what you say, but you must not insist with social media and learn to cure viruses with Channel n.5.

I respect people's commitment but do not be offended if I do not speak to you anymore: there is not enough time for me. These are also discussions without reason.

OK, let's clear some air.

You are perfectly welcome to ask questions on the technical forums and ignore the non-technical forums. But some of us inject a note of whimsy in our responses because we are human. We are not machines and don't respond like machines. We respond like people who are not single-minded.

PLEASE understand that (to the best of my knowledge) there are no actual AI personalities on this forum. None of us should answer like we were machines, emotionless and uncaring. Though Uncle Gizmo happens to be fond of ChatGPT. Oh, well, no accounting for tastes...

Why are you so hard on me that I have to ask for MS-Acces?

Not hard on you for that. Hard on you because you were being hard on us. Ever hear that phrase, "What goes around comes around."? Just recognize that we are people, imperfect and emotional beings who sometimes enjoy a chuckle or two. Don't ask us to be what we aren't.

Self awareness goes a long way.

Your very first post here included this line.

"Maybe it is better to stick to programming things where you have enough studies and skills."

You came to a site that has been operating successfully for a very long time, with a well established culture.

And the first thing that occurred to you once you joined the group was to tell the veterans here to change how things work, and by implication, they do so to accommodate you.

Do you not understand how badly your introduction came across? And why, in turn, people are not happy to be told how to behave by someone who is here on their first day?

I received your Private Message with replies disabled so I can't respond to it in kind.

At this point, everything that needs to be said has been said anyway.

The best of luck to you. Fortunately, the ability to ignore threads and posters is available in this forum; I'll avail myself of that option.

Even for the word 'censor', you have to update your vocabulary.
When you tell us what we can and cannot discuss, it is YOU who is being the censor. You may choose to call what we may or may not discus something else but that is the correct word in English and giving it a new, politically correct name doesn't change what you mean. Now you are arguing with us and playing the victim. It just can't get any worse;)

If you truly have Asperger's Syndrome, you are going to have a choice to make. We will not change the style of our forum, which has worked well for over 20 years that I can personally remember. You must either adapt to what we have and what we offer, or you must decide that we are going to be too much for your symptoms to endure.

I wish you no ill will, but I have a friend with Asperger's Syndrome and let me say this: I sincerely hope you don't have one of the symptoms my friend has - self-destructive behavior. He doesn't take proper attention to his health and eating habits. If the rigidity inherent in your condition leads to a conflict with our looser style of interactions, we regret that we cannot guarantee you the kind of interactions you want.

I rarely make this recommendation, but some of the other Access forums tend to be more rigid than we are. I don't know if they will be able to provide what you need at the social/professional level. But you might wish to look at them to decide whether they are a closer fit to your style.

Huh?? What the heck did all that mean?

Please go back and reread your post. You make absolutely no sense. I have 36 years dealing with those on the spectrum so I am aware that language and communication can be difficult.

I think you will all be using an AI in the near future, that's if there's any programming jobs left for Humans!!!

But I do understand the fear of the new technology. I would urge you to embrace it rather than push it away....

There's a lot to learn on how to engage with chatty and understanding why it makes mistakes and create your prompts to avoid those mistakes...

I just posted a video in the "I'm in love with chatty" thread, a video from "the man with the Swiss accent", on how to use AI, along with microcontrollers, in particular the ESP32 with a camera module....

It's an incredibly insightful video into the future use of AI... It speaks to me and it tells me that there is definitely a place for experienced programmers for a few years yet, but you might just have to adjust what you program!

Chatty even has an add-in/extension option to make it your default search engine. I installed it and now even if I use Google, chatty returns the results - without all the adverts. For now anyway...
