Link Criteria Question

Hi

I am trying to open a new form in code using the linkcriteria to select the correct record, this is after a click event on a particular field.

The two fields that i am trying to match are the parent and child ID fields defined by the table relationship. I cant get it to work and I was wondering if you simply cannot use the ID fields for this purpose.

Can anybody shed any light on this, saves me barking up the wrong tree...
