Hi

I am trying to link to Access 2007 data in Excel 2007 using usual "Get External Data - From Access" route. Specifically I am wanting to link to certain Select queries.

However, whilst Excel 2007 is apparently able to link to Queries and Tables, only certain queries are given as options to connect to. I am not sure why the vast majority of queries are not available and the ones that are available are also select queries and are not less complicated (In fact, quite the reverse, with embedded queries etc. and very simple queries on tables with single criteria are not shown as options.)

I am at a loss to explain this. If anyone has any suggestions, would really appreciate it.

Thanks
Mike

I know what you're talking about, I ran into exactly the same problem a while back.
Could not find the reason, so for each query that I could not select, I created a table and an append query that sends the query results to that table.
Whenever I need the results, I first go to the database and run the code that automatically does the updating. Then I return to the Spread sheet, to update my data.
If you find a better solution, I'm all ears.

I reckon only SELECT queries that do not require any interaction are made available. When you link from Excel you can link to a closed DB, where forms are not open, and hence queries that require some data from a form would not be able to collect them. You could make parameter queries and assign values to the parameters, instead of dumping data into temp tables.

Can anyone tell me how to link an excel worksheet to access and have it print out in the same format?

Thank You
