Hi all,
I am a newbie to the forum and dont know much about it yet so please point me in the right direction if i am doing anything wrong..

My task is to create a spreadsheet that will automaticaly update on opening. The data i require is in Sage Line100 which is very difficult to work with(for me with limited database knowledge).

Because i need to link tables i thought that the best way would be to create a link with Access and create the report format that i need so that it could be exported to Excel.

1: Is this possible(or am in dreamland)
2: How do i refresh the data or is it possible to make it dynamic
3: how do i create a report that saves as an excel file and refreshes when opened

Thank you for any help that can be provided(bowing down to superior knowledge)

Steve

If you can link the table then you should be able to link excel in also and write a SQL query in Excel to pull the data. You can also refresh it in Excel. Sounds like going through Access will just make it harder unless you need to do a lot of data manipulation.

Thanks for the reply,

Its the amount of data that its pulling through. 1 table alone has 333,000 records. i am linked to 6 tables which i need to reresh the data over night.

Basicaly i need a spread sheet that takes
Fields A, B and F from Table 1
A, G, H, J and X From Table 2
J, L, M, N frm Table 3

And so on for the other tables.

I need help on how the best way for this is, as i am new to access, i am OK with excel but never had to link it to muliple tables in a database before so the learning curve is going to be immense

Cheers for the help

Steve
